Find God in the Now

12 Dec 2018

See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition,
according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ.

Colossians 2,8

Everywhere in the world people are trying to get closer to God, to get to know Him and to start a relationship with Him, by trying to find Him in philosophy, in tradition, in religion or in other past events. Yet the problem with that is that God is not a God of the past, but a living God that lives HERE and NOW!

Christianity was never meant to be a religion, since religion actually means “back into bondage/tying back”.
Religion refers to something that always makes you look back and thereby keeps you stuck in the past, instead of living HERE and NOW, and that is why the living God cannot be found in religion or other things of that kind. Just like you and I, He lives in the now!

Everything that God did for you through Jesus and also the relationship that He wants to have with you is for you to enjoy right here and now, and everything that you do you should do by faith, and faith is never in the past but always operates in the now.

So when you want to get to know God, start a relationship with Him, get to know His voice, His characteristics, His love and His will for you, then you will have to do it in the now, not in tradition or religion.

Just take some time for God daily, sit down by yourself and open your inner ears. At the beginning you might not hear Him very strongly and it will be a small, calm voice in you, but when you just stick with it and keep spending time with Him, you will get to know His voice, it will become clearer and louder and through it you will also get to know all the other things that God has in store for you!

It is good to study the Bible and to see what great things God did back then, but realize that EVERYTHING in the Bible is only there so that you can have a relationship with God HERE and NOW, enjoying everything that He wants to bless you with.
He is a God of the now. So live with Him in the now!

People have tried to find God in religion, in traditions and in all the things that happened in the past, but a living God cannot be found in the past, for He lives in the NOW!
You cannot have a relationship with God without knowing, without seeing and without experiencing Him in the NOW. So focus on seeking Him right now instead of looking back. Take time off to just sit down and fellowship with Him. Get to know His voice, His characteristics, His love for you, His will for you and much more. He wants you to experience Him now. So seek Him there!
