I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace.
In the world you will have tribulation.
But take heart; I have overcome the world.
We all know and most probably find it uncomfortable to be in stressful situations, in which we often don't know what and how it's going to happen. Many have probably already prayed for peace in situations like these, but the peace you receive in that way is still nowhere near the true peace of God that you can live in!
You can receive peace by a quick prayer in stressful situations for example, but there is a far deeper and stronger peace, which comes through resting in God.
I have often enjoyed that kind of peace, especially before exams and bigger decisions in my life, as I still made the choice to open the Word of God, write a devotional, praise Him and simply spend time with Him, despite my circumstances.
You just sit there and loose yourself with all your sorrows and fears in God and His Word and as soon as you get up again to continue your day, you notice that a peace came upon you that silently, yet forcefully says to you that there is no reason to worry and that everything will work out perfectly!
The deep peace that you should be enjoying in your life and in which you should do everything you do, is nothing that you have to fight for. It simply comes upon you and fills you, as you loose yourself in Gods Word and spend time with Him.
A good translation of Isaiah 26,3 says:
“You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you (on God)…”
Be willing and plan in time with God every day, no matter what you are facing and no matter what you have to get done. I have experienced His deep peace and wouldn’t want to live without it. I know that you will enjoy it too!
There is a peace that you can receive in stressful situations just through a quick prayer, BUT there is also a much deeper peace in store for you, the kind that only few Christians know to live in nowadays. It is called resting in God.
You don’t need to fight for that deep kind of peace, for it just comes upon you as you spend time with God. You just sit there, reading, praying, worshiping, etc. and once you get up, a peace lies upon you that tells you that there is no reason to worry and that everything is going to be perfect. That is true peace and that has power!
