Lord, how many times must I forgive my brother who sins against me?
“How many more times should I forgive this idiot? Every time he just tricks me again, cheats again,…”. “How could I ever forgive him/her. After what he/she did to me and my family. I just can't do it.”
I am sure you have heard those phrases before and maybe you have even said them yourself, but did you ever realize how important forgiveness truly is and that you ALWAYS HAVE TO forgive, no matter the circumstances?
Mark 11,24-25 says that if you come before God and ask Him for anything, He will give it to you, but if you have unforgiveness in your life, you won't be able to receive anything.
Not only that, but that unforgiveness will separate you completely from God and cuts off the access to Him and His promises. That sounds harsh, but it is the truth.
Forgiveness is not a feeling and you don't have to feel good or feel attracted to the person to forgive. Forgiveness is a decision/a choice, that you have to make by faith, and if bad feelings or thoughts come up, you need to cast them down and speak that forgiveness out again in faith, just for affirmation.
No matter how bad that person treated you, no matter what he/she did to you, you can always forgive them by faith, because the same power that God used to forgive the people that killed His only son is within you.
Understand that you are the only one that gets hurt if you decide not to forgive whoever wronged you.
Make the decision today to actively forgive and to live in complete forgiveness, so that you don't allow the devil, after he managed to hurt you, to also destroy your relationship with God. Kick him out of your life and overcome all the damage that he has done, by forgiveness and godly love!
Jesus came to forgive you, me, and everybody else, and since you were called to walk and act like Him, you ought to forgive everyone that has wronged you!
Forgiveness is not a feeling, but a choice that you have to make by faith. You choose to forgive that person and even though you don’t feel like it, you stick with your choice, no matter what.
Unforgiveness doesn’t just hurt you, but it also separates you from God. Therefore make your choice today and choose to forgive by faith!
