You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart
and with all your soul and with all your mind (intellect).
When the bible talks about your mind, it is important to discern between two different mindsets.
There is the worldly mindset, which keeps you away from God and His blessing and there is the “godly” mindset, which causes you to look to God in every situation and makes you ready to receive.
The mindset of this world is thinking according to this worlds system. Everyone that is not born again has this mindset and sadly many Christians still too. That way of thinking will always cause you to look at your circumstances and it will make you subject to them. With that mindset your feelings just go up and down, totally depending on your circumstances.
For example: You got sick and now you don’t know what to do. Your mind says. “Yes, I know already what the word says and that it tells me that I am healed, BUT I quickly need to run to the doctors and take pills.” That is how this world thinks. Without respect towards Gods Word and without revelation of His ability.
(It is not wrong to go to the doctors or to take medicine, but that shouldn’t be your salvation or subject of faith.)
The godly mindset comes through a revelation and through close observation of Gods Word. That revelation will always cause you to look to God and His peace and blessing, even in the toughest situations. That’s what gives you a firm foundation for your feelings and carries you safely through the valley of darkness.
Another example: You are sick and your first reaction is: “God says I am healed! No matter what my circumstances say, I stand on Gods Word and my circumstances will align with what I believe (HEALING)!”
(That doesn’t mean that you are not allowed to go to the doctor, but you will quickly realise that God is the best doctor and that His word is the best medicine.
Renew your mind with a revelation of God and you will see how easy and trouble-free a life with God is!
The greatest law in the new covenant with God is to love Him with all your heart, your soul and your mind. To love God with your mind means to let go of the way of thinking of this world and to realign your mind with Gods kingdom!
Become aware of Gods all-mightiness and understand His covenant with you, instead of acting and thinking like the world. If you do that, then your renewed mind won’t let you forget who you are in Christ and that you are the victor, every time problems come your way! (Matthew 22,37)
